About Aquila
Aquila Private Game Reserve is one of the most popular and closest game reserves in the Cape Town area and it only takes 2 hours to get there. Aquila is a 10 000 hectare private game reserve found in the Klien Karoo and is home to the big 5 as well as a large variety of incredible South African wildlife. With the game reserve’s close proximity to Cape Town, the safari experiences at Aquila have really made a name for itself.
At Aquila Game Reserve the safari drives are two to three hours long and take place in an open 4×4 safari vehicle. During the safari, a highly experienced guide will tell you everything there is to know about the wildlife and what you will be seeing during the trip. And, you will know that no matter what animals you are going to see, you will be safe and secure in the 4×4 safari vehicle. Aquila Game reserve offers unique safari experiences all year round.

The Safari Experience
Once at Aquila you are going to be welcomed with a cocktail upon arrival, checked in and shown around the lodge. The day starts off with a buffet lunch and some leisure time. In the afternoon you will go on your first safari drive and enjoy the African sunset out in the bush. Dinner will be served later in the evening and then it’s time to sit back relax.
The following day you will have the option of going on the morning or afternoon safari. Morning safaris are at sunrise and afternoon safaris take you into the sunset. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served true African style at the lodge. If you are not on a safari you can sit back, relax and enjoy the calmness of nature. You can also choose to take part in additional safari options and activates during the afternoon. After a day at the game reserve you’ll have some leisure before dinner is served. The night is yours to unwind, star gaze and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. On the day of departure you’ll be up bright and early. A sunrise safari starts off the day, followed by a buffet breakfast, before you checkout and depart to Cape Town or your onward destination.
Activities at Aquila
Aquila Game Reserve offers some really exciting activities and additional safari options. You can choose to join an additional safari drive or take part in a quadbike or horseback safari. For the more adventuros souls you can even book a skydiving experience. You will also have full access to the spa treatments and the swimming pool during your stay. Ask for the options when you make your booking as these activites do need to be booked in advance and are subject to availablity. These extra activites and safaris at the game reserve are not included and you do need to pay extra for them.

The fastest route is a 2 hours drive from Cape Town and follows the N1 highway. Transfers are regularly arranged on request.
Accommodation Options

The Aquila lodge is just beside the restaurant and is newly build. The lodge offers 22 different rooms facing the reserve and the mountains. And 22 more rooms that are facing away from the reserve. With the Aquila lodge, you have three different options.
