Yup, it’s that time of year again when the Table Mountain cable cars require annual maintenance to ensure an even better experience for all. Operations this winter are expected to be shutting down until 18 August 2019.
Fortunately for you, the annual cableway maintenance has never been a deterrent for any of our guided hikes and tours. In fact, hiking up and down Table Mountain is one of the most magnificent, bucket-list experiences to enjoy, any avid hiker would agree.
Cape Town offers the best of the best guided, hiking experiences and we are spoilt for choice. With so many routes to choose from, Cape Town is quite literally a hiker’s paradise. From a gentle stroll along the Pipe track to a lusher and calorie-burning Skeleton Gorge we are experienced to guide your hike up any Cape Town mountainous route.
So, let’s get down to business. Which guided Table Mountain hiking route is best for you? Honestly, we love them all but don’t take our word for it. Below is a list of all our beautiful guided hikes along Table Mountain and more:
India Venster: Affectionately named due to the shape of the ravine which is situated between the two large rock buttresses – shaped like the subcontinent of India. This is one of our most popular half-day Table Mountain hikes with contouring path breathtakingly gorgeous panoramic views.
Skeleton Gorge: This lush, forest-like climb up through the indigenous forest on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain is an absolute must. Especially for a change of scenery. The views are spectacular and you’ll surely be in for a treat. Pack a few snacks for this calorie-burning adventure.
Platteklip Gorge: This route is probably the most direct route to the top of Table Mountain and most certainly one of the toughest. An early morning start is highly recommended to be rewarded with the beautiful coastal views including Robben Island, on a clear-sky day.
Kasteelspoort: This less congested, full-day Table Mountain guided hike is a firm favourite. A picturesque hike dotted with water breaks and spectacular views of the Twelve Apostles, Lion’s Head and more. Not to mention the “diving board” reward at the summit which makes for an enviable Instagram shot.
I mean, be our guest and choose all of the above. We’d love to show you the way on any which route you choose, up and down Table Mountain.
